About The Job

College of Interdisciplinary & Experiential Learning

To support the mission of the University, the SUSS Core provides a transformative experience for all SUSS undergraduates by focusing on educating the whole person – cognitively, socially, and creatively. SUSS has launched a new suite of core courses to equip students with a set of values, skills and knowledge to develop them into adaptive and resilient global citizens who are able to meet the challenges of the 21st century. These courses aim to enable our students to appreciate complex issues in local and global contexts, enhance their understanding of individuals, communities and relationships, and empower them to contribute meaningfully to society through interdisciplinary approaches and experiential learning.

Many of the wicked problems in society today require interconnected and interdependent perspectives and collective collaboration. The SUSS Core enables students to thrive in a VUCA world by equipping them with interdisciplinary & experiential learning tools and processes, enabling students to synthesise knowledge from multiple disciplines to address complex issues. Above all, we deepen students’ socio-cultural competence and social responsibility to the local and global community through sustainable, reciprocal engagement with partners on real-world issues.

We seek an Assistant Director to support the Deputy Dean, Experiential Learning to strategise, lead and set up structures, mechanisms and processes in the areas of:

1. ePortfolio graduation requirement
2. Interdisciplinary capstone course
3. Credit-bearing courses administration
4. Department administration

Job Description

• Develop the framework and work processes for the ePortfolio graduation requirement and oversee the administration.
• Develop the framework and work processes for the interdisciplinary capstone course and oversee the administration.
• Oversee and supervise course administration.
• Oversee and supervise service-learning operations.
• Oversee and supervise global learning operations.
• Oversee and supervise EL events and initiatives
• Oversee and supervise budget-related requests and monitoring
• Tracking of key performance data for the department
• Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor, as well as participate in university-wide projects and activities.

Job Requirements

• A good university degree, preferably with a postgraduate degree and/or professional qualification, where relevant.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong analytical, communication, networking and presentation skills.
• Strong leader who creates a positive, motivating environment for team members.
• A resourceful team player with initiative and interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity.
• Meticulous, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with diverse people and managing multiple tasks and processes.
• Strong coordination, administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage and work independently.
