About the Job
The Assistant Manager (Communications) manages the Advancement team's communications strategy and execution to support the University's fundraising and stewardship objectives of increasing the engagement and philanthropic commitment of our current and prospective donors.
What You Will Be Doing
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement a communications plan for key fundraising campaigns and activities
- Provide communications advisory to team members on publicity and messaging strategies
- Write and edit content for digital and print materials – including but not limited to, donor email updates, social media posts, event invitations, and speeches.
- Conceptualise and oversee the production of the advancement marketing materials, such as the Annual Giving Report, brochures and videos.
- Review and refine any media-related materials and draft inputs for all Advancement-related media enquiries
- Develop and maintain a story bank to support Advancement communications
- Manage and develop the Giving website by creating and refining webpage content.
- Collaborate with the University’s Communications and Marketing team and other departments to amplify Advancement’s key messaging
Job Requirements
- A relevant degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field of study;
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in marketing and communications, or fundraising environment. Experience in higher education fundraising setting will be advantageous.
- Strong copywriting, story development and/or content creation skills.
- Strong communicator, both verbal and written.
- Proven relationship-building, collaboration and cultivation of partners and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with Canva will be advantageous.
