Senior Executive (Business Development & Consultancy)

The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), an autonomous institute of the Singapore University of Social Sciences, is at the forefront of building capabilities and continuing professional development for an effective, innovative and responsive Training & Adult Education (TAE) sector. About The Role

In this position, the appointee will be working in the Business Development & Consultancy unit, supporting both the Centre for Workplace Learning and Performance and the broader institute to achieve its B2B targets. The main function of the appointee is to manage the stakeholder relationship of strategic collaborations, major accounts and upstream project management activities, including engagement of TAE professionals/consultants in customising workplace learning solutions for the enterprises.

What Will You Be Doing

Business Development and Sales

  • Support the Centre in building industry networks across clients, vendors, partners, and collaborators to foster strategic alliances and business opportunities.
  • Assist in sourcing, cultivating, and closing sales through consultative selling approaches and establishment of strategic partnerships.
  • Assist to develop proposals/quotations and sales materials for presentation to clients, where necessary.
  • Perform the identification, onboarding, and engagement of suitable TAE professionals/consultants for incoming projects.
  • Work closely with instructional designers/learning consultants to co-create new services and products for enterprises' needs.
  • Engage in reviews of project proposals submitted for quality, relevance, and alignment to the grant schemes.

Relationship Management and Projects

  • Assist the Team Lead in the stakeholder management and actualisation of strategic collaborations and projects.
  • Nurture and cultivate sustainable relationships with stakeholders involving external clientele and partners.
  • Work closely with the project management & administration team in the handling of enterprise needs, projects, and corporate runs.
  • Manage enterprise data and records in the institute’s customer relationship management system. 

Corporate Runs

  • Covering duty in engaging with clients to coordinate programme corporate runs, ensuring alignment with their needs and objectives.
  • Support the Team Lead in negotiations to finalise agreements for programme corporate runs.
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure seamless client onboarding, providing administrative and operational support throughout the process.

Any other duties, including cross-divisional projects or events, that may be assigned by the management from time to time to meet the needs of the organisation and changing environment.

Job Requirements

  • At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in service sales and/or consulting, preferably in the adult education sector.   
  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in the area of business, marketing, or mass communication.
  • ACTA and/or ACLP qualification would be advantageous.
  • Conversant in business, learning & development practice and terminologies.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure and tight timelines to drive numbers and ensure project commencement.
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good communication and writing skills; meticulous and detail-oriented.
  • Effective as both a team player and individual contributor.
  • Customer-centric and business-oriented in mindset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute next to Paya Lebar MRT station.
