About The Job
The Associate Librarian is responsible for working closely with the Research, Instruction and Outreach Librarian to provide research support and instruction services.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Research Assistance
- Provide research assistance by answering simple enquiries
- Provide research consultation services to SUSS community
- Provide onsite support by answering enquiries from walk-in users via the library service counter. Counter duties may involve weekday evenings and weekends.
Instruction Services
- Plan, schedule and organise information / instruction services.
- Provide instruction services to students.
Information Content
- Create and update online guides, FAQs, videos and other digital learning objects.
- Coordinate and produce content for the library blog, collaterals, website, Intranet, digital notices, and other publicity channels.
Promotion, Marketing and Monitoring of Content and Services
- Develop and deliver communications, promotion and outreach strategies and initiatives that serve to inform and engage the SUSS community.
- Manage the library website, including updating, monitoring usage and optimising access.
- Analyse, monitor and report on usage and feedback on services and the effectiveness of promotion and marketing activities and programmes.
General Responsibilities
- Participate in library-wide and university-wide initiatives and special projects such as Orientation and Graduation Ceremony.
- Perform other departmental or organizational accountabilities or duties as necessary or assigned.
Job Requirements
- Degree, preferably in the sciences, social sciences, or humanities.
- 2-3 years of experience working in a library, preferably in an academic library.
- Experience creating a wide variety of written communications (newsletters, marketing announcements, web content, internal communications, etc.) and working with web publishing tools such as LibGuides and WordPress.
- Proficient in the use of graphic and media tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently as well as foster teamwork and collaboration with internal and external parties.
- Highly service-oriented with an ability to take a user-centred approach in the provision of library services.
