About the Job

To support the Manager, Finance & Business Partnership (FBP), in managing the finance functions through analysis, advice, collaboration (with both internal and external parties), policy formulation and review, performance management, information gathering, compliance, and reporting. The role includes supporting MOE budgeting and claims, organizing and overseeing grants documentation and processes, and liaising between departments and auditors to ensure grants are properly tracked and approved timely for reporting purposes. The role will also take a lead in monthly closing activities, preparation of various finance reports, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting deliverables.

What You Will Be Doing

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Controllership and Grants Administration

  • Support the maintenance of systems and accounting functions to ensure adherence to SUSS’s policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Support finance function including accurate posting, timely completion of all accounting tasks and to provide informative and accurate financial information for timely reporting to MOE and grantors
  • Provide advice and responds to financial questions/concerns, prepares audit schedules and assist the auditors in their inquiries during the course of audit
  • Ensure proper tracking and accurate recording of all MOE Funding, research grants and investment

 

Monthly Closing & Financial Reporting 

  • Co-ordinate the monthly financial closing process, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls during the closing process
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary information for closing and reporting
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of financial reporting tools and templates

Campus Development  Management

  • Support all campus development related procedures and policies to ensure adherence to organization guidelines
  • Support recording of campus development transactions in finance system. Prepare audit/reporting schedules relating to campus development, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.

 

Annual budget and forecast

  • Assist with the annual budget, forecast in accordance to Budget Action Plan as Grants Administrator
  • Help with user queries on grants and research related budget and involve in the report preparation for Management’s checkpoints on budget

 

General 

  • Perform any ad hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Accountancy, Finance, Business) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably with exposure to monthly closing, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience with SAP accounting systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Eye for details.
  • Numerically inclined and analytical.
  • High level of self-management and ability to work under tight timelines.
