About The Job
The Head (Brand & Marketing) is responsible for leading the strategic development, positioning and growth of the SUSS brand across all platforms, audiences and touchpoints. This role drives integrated brand and marketing strategies that strengthen institutional reputation, deepen audience engagement and support student recruitment, lifelong learning and stakeholder engagement objectives. The candidate will lead the University’s brand and marketing efforts across strategy, campaigns, digital marketing, audience insights, content, creative direction and performance marketing. The role requires a strong brand leader who can connect strategy, storytelling, audience behaviour, and market insights into cohesive, impactful campaigns and initiatives. The ideal candidate is both strategic and execution-oriented, with strong regional awareness, excellent stakeholder management capabilities and the ability to translate complex insights and data into compelling narratives, recommendations and measurable outcomes.
What You Will Be Doing
Key Responsibilities
Brand Strategy & Positioning
- Lead the development and stewardship of the SUSS brand strategy, positioning and identity
- Shape and strengthen the University’s brand presence and differentiation locally and regionally
- Ensure consistency and quality across all brand expressions, campaigns and audience touchpoints
- Develop brand governance frameworks, guidelines and standards across the institution
- Drive brand health tracking, perception studies and market positioning analysis
Integrated Marketing & Campaign Leadership
- Lead integrated marketing strategies and campaigns across multiple audience segments and business priorities
- Oversee campaign development across digital, social, paid media, content, partnerships and other marketing channels
- Ensure campaigns are insight-driven, audience-centric and measurable
- Translate institutional priorities and strategic objectives into effective marketing plans and execution roadmaps
- Drive alignment across marketing, communications, digital and creative functions
Audience Insights, Data & Storytelling
- Lead the use of audience, campaign and market data to inform strategic decision-making
- Analyse and interpret trends, behaviours and performance metrics to identify opportunities and insights
- Translate complex data into clear visualisations, narratives and recommendations for leadership and stakeholders
- Drive data-informed storytelling approaches that strengthen audience engagement and brand resonance
Regional Positioning & Partnerships
- Strengthen SUSS’s regional visibility and positioning across Southeast Asia and Asia
- Leverage regional market knowledge, networks and partnerships to support brand growth and thought leadership opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media, agencies, partners and external stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for strategic collaborations and audience expansion
Stakeholder Management & Strategic Advisory
- Partner closely with senior leadership, schools and internal stakeholders to align marketing priorities and institutional objectives
- Serve as a strategic advisor on branding, positioning and marketing matters across the University
- Manage complex stakeholder environments and navigate diverse priorities effectively
- Build trusted relationships across teams, functions and leadership levels to drive collaboration and alignment
- Present strategic recommendations, insights and campaign performance clearly and persuasively to senior stakeholders
Team Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead and develop the Brand & Marketing team
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative and future-oriented team culture
- Build capabilities in brand strategy, integrated marketing, digital marketing, analytics and storytelling
- Oversee agency management, procurement, budgeting and operational planning
- Ensure effective resource allocation, workflow management and delivery excellence
Job Requirements
- Possesses a Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related discipline, with 10–15 years of relevant experience in brand, marketing, or strategic communications.
- Demonstrates proven leadership experience in managing integrated marketing and brand functions, including large-scale campaigns, agency partnerships, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, content strategy, audience engagement, and performance marketing.
- Possesses regional experience across Southeast Asia and/or broader Asia, with familiarity in regional audience and media landscapes; established regional media and industry networks will be advantageous.
- Demonstrates strong stakeholder management experience within complex, matrixed, or multi-stakeholder environments.
- Strong brand strategist with the ability to shape and evolve a differentiated brand identity, translating strategy into clear, actionable, and measurable execution plans.
- Demonstrates strong storytelling capabilities across brand, campaigns, content, and leadership communications.
- Highly data-literate with the ability to visualise, interpret, and communicate data effectively to support decision-making.
- Able to connect market trends, audience insights, institutional priorities, and business objectives into cohesive marketing strategies.
- Possesses strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex environments and engage confidently with senior stakeholders, agencies, media partners, and external organisations.
- Collaborative and effective in working across teams, functions, and leadership levels.
- Brings strong regional awareness of the Southeast Asian and broader Asian landscape.
- Forward-looking, innovative, and digitally fluent, with a strong interest in emerging marketing and audience engagement trends.
