Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring individual who is deeply passionate about adult learning, research and educational impact to lead our Master in Boundary-Crossing Learning and Leadership (MBX) graduate programme as the Head of Programme. This role presents the opportunity to shape the future of adult learning, drive academic excellence and contribute to the advancement of knowledge and practice in the CET sector.
The key responsibilities are:
- Strategic leadership: Lead and manage the successful implementation of the MBX, ensuring its competitive edge and influence in the market.
- Curriculum design, development and delivery: Oversee the design, development and enhancement of the programme curriculum to ensure relevance, rigour and alignment with industry needs and standards; teach courses in the programme.
- Academic excellence: Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation and continuous improvement within the programme, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students and faculty.
- Student success: Support student success initiatives, student engagement and retention efforts, and cultivate a collaborative learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical analysis, practical application and personal and professional growth.
- Partnerships: Cultivate strategic partnerships and collaborations with industry and government stakeholders to enhance the programme’s impact, relevance and visibility.
- Publicity: Develop and implement publicity strategies to promote the programme locally and globally. This includes writing up the programme for marketing collaterals as well as conducting dialogue sessions and masterclasses to enhance the programme’s visibility, attract students and faculty, and engage with the broader community.
- Quality assurance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies, maintaining the highest standards of academic quality, integrity and accountability.
- Budget and resource management: Manage programme budgets and resources effectively to support academic priorities and initiatives.
Other responsibilities include:
- Research activities: Lead and contribute to IAL's key focus areas, including research, as required
- Collegial support: Extend support to other SUSS and IAL-wide events and activities e.g. conferences
Job Requirements
Academic Education / Training / Experience
- PhD degree holder in education, learning sciences or the social sciences from a reputable university. PhD candidates nearing completion will also be considered.
- At least five years of working experience, preferably with practice experience, especially in CET contexts, such as a CET Centre, Training Provider, Institute of Higher Learning, a corporate academy or an enterprise Learning and Development team.
- Experience in leadership and management of diverse teams would be an advantage.
- Capacity to extend and reinforce the interdisciplinary, boundary-spanning and change-oriented nature of the MBX through collaboration and innovative design.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and engage positively with colleagues and external stakeholders.

- Proactive with high level of initiative and an eye for detail.
- Able to work independently, has positive attitude and commitment to outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in teams and engage with CET stakeholders, faculty members, learners and industry practitioners, both local and international.

- The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar.
