About the job

The successful candidate will support the Assistant Director in the Financial Planning and Analysis function, strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting initiatives. 

What you will be doing

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To support the Assistant Director and the CFO in FP&A function through business partnerships, business reviews, in-depth financial analysis, report generations, provision of insights to support planning and decision-making processes, collaborates with schools and departments to optimize business and financial performances, provides valuable insights for cost-effective operations, ensuring strategic alignment and effective financial decision-making.

  • Analyse financial and non-financial information for strategic and business initiatives and identify business opportunities and risks.

  • Supervise the University’s annual budgeting exercise.

  • Monitor financial performance against budget/forecast and work cross-functionally to drive improvements.

  • Monitor and ensure timely and proper execution of plans.

  • Support in preparation of materials for reporting such as drafting board papers, presentation slides, minutes, etc.

  • Effective partnership with schools and departments including analysis of business/financial performance, towards financial sustainability, and ensuring institutional compliance to prevalent and relevant accounting standards, MOE P&Ps, internal P&Ps, Charities Act and Code of Governance for IPCs,

  • Establish best practices in FP&A that translate into policies and procedures wherever applicable.

  • Ensure adherence of actions to best practice or set policies and procedures through monitoring and reporting.

  • Work with controllership, procurement and investment teams in compliance matters, financial reporting and policies.

  • Training to inculcate a culture of sensible financial planning and budgeting.

  • Stay current with University’s strategic direction and plans, industry trends and best practices in FP&A.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting and/or Finance with CA/ACCA or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years of FP&A experience

  • Strong finance background with business analysis experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in Finance ERP system such as SAP/S4 Hana

  • Experience with planning/analytics systems/tools

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to translate business requirements/queries into financial analysis and financial projections/models.

  • Ability to think strategically with strong business acumen that contributes to the overall strategic direction of the University.

  • Strong analytical, communication, problem solving, project management and presentation skills and ability to think out of the box.

  • Strong integrity

  • Meticulous

  • Ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve goals and is a strong team player.

  • High level of self-management and ability to work under tight datelines.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.

  • Always observe a code of strict confidentiality.
