About the Job
A Singapore University of Social Sciences research project team is inviting applications for a 1-year research assistant position. The research assistant will work closely with the project leaders and stakeholders to design and implement a study on student advising efforts in higher education, based on the execution of evidence-based decisions guided by behavioural science principles.
What You Will Be Doing
The research assistant will take the following responsibilities by working with the project leaders:
- Oversee the general management and administration of the project (e.g., organise meetings, recording meeting minutes)
- Manage project timeline and ensure project milestones/ deliverables are met
- Support all ethics and regulatory related administrative work, including IRB applications
- Perform literature reviews, assist with designing and conducting of qualitative and/or quantitative research tasks (e.g., focus group discussions, interviews, surveys), and perform data processing and analysis tasks
- Work with vendors to create visual and text materials as part of student advising efforts
- Develop project processes and procedures, and maintain related documentations
- Conduct impact analysis against pre-determined project outcomes
- Prepare progress and final reports of the project for reporting to management, as well as for publication
- Present research outputs at seminars, meetings, workshops
- Assist in procurement processes (e.g., purchase of tokens for focus group participants)
- Contribute to development and writing of research grant proposals
- Work on other tasks as assigned by the project leaders
Job Requirements
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or a Master degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Education, Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology)
- Prior experience in research related to educational research and/or adult learning
- Familiarity with qualitative or/and quantitative research methods and software (e.g., SPSS)
- Demonstrate ability to propose, design, and implement appropriate research instruments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with design applications (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud suite) is advantageous
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Meticulous and resourceful
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Be able to work collaboratively in a team
