Research Associate (1 year contract), University Research Office

About the Job

The University Research Office (URO) seeks a full-time research associate to provide quantitative research support for several ongoing research projects in the fields of family, economics, labour and population studies. The successful candidate is expected to work independently and in teams with minimal supervision. Contract extension is dependent on job performance.

What You Will Be Doing

The successful candidate will:
•    Provide project research and administrative support to the assigned research projects.
•    Work with the principal investigators (PI) and relevant co-principal investigators (co-PI) to manage data collection, develop and implement statistical analysis plans.
•    Assist PI and Co-PIs with data cleaning and preparation of primary and secondary data for analyses.
•    Assist PI and co-PIs with research report writing.
•    Assist PI and Co-PIs with meeting proceedings, working papers, policy briefs, journal articles, op-eds.
•    Prepare presentation materials for internal and external research meetings.
•    Editorial work e.g., copy editing and proof reading.
•    Opportunities to co-organise conferences/symposiums/workshops.
•    Assist PIs and Co-PIs with research project-related administrative work including progress reports to funders.
•    Any other duties assigned by URO or PI/Co-PIs of assigned projects.

Job Requirements

•    Completed academic degree (Master or equivalent) in a relevant social science discipline with two years relevant work experience.
•    Recent Master graduates with relevant research background and training but without the necessary work experience are eligible to apply.
•    Strong grasp of the research topics and related issues that this position will support.
•    Proficiency in research skills, budgeting, reporting, and administrative tasks.
•    Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
•    Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
•    Proficiency with STATA, R, SPSS, or SAS.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
•    Must be able to commit to a year of continuous service.
