Research Manager (1 year contract)

About The Job

The Node for Impactful Continuing Education (NICE) was established in 2024 to promote research partnerships and efforts with a focus on identifying and studying outcomes and the determinants of such outcomes from CET for members of the labour force. Some areas of priority include the employability and career health of workers who are enrolled in adult learning degree programmes, such as those that SUSS offers.

What You Will Be Doing

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Manager to support the planning and execution of applied research initiatives and partnerships aligned with the mission of NICE.

This role encompasses stakeholder engagement, overseeing research fieldwork and platforms to enable and showcase effective research for NICE.

The successful candidate will bring experience in ground engagement and stakeholder management along with the ability to work effectively across multifunctional teams and diverse community-facing initiatives. Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a dynamic, people-oriented approach are essential for this role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with worker organisations locally and regionally, government agencies, funding bodies, and institutional partners to drive research development, compliance and collaborative initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and logistics of research events and ground engagement
  • Support research tracking and project-level financial reporting to ensure alignment with grant conditions and institutional requirements.
  • Contribute to NICE-led strategic and ad-hoc initiatives through structured coordination and adaptive execution.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned to support NICE’s evolving research agenda.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field of specialisation. A suitable level of skills and depth of relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of academic qualifications.
  • Experience in the Asia-Pacific region, especially ASEAN, with engaging labour market stakeholders and international worker organisations.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in general administration, policy documentation or stakeholder engagement across community or professional settings. Experience in an international setting will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop structured documentation and communicate with varied audiences.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage concurrent responsibilities and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional efforts including those involving community initiatives.
  • Adaptive, self-motivated, and solutions-oriented with strong team ethic.
  • Experience and interest in contributing towards the promotion of social good is a plus.
