Senior Executive, Student Life (1 Year Contract)

About the Role

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) administers full-time and part-time undergraduate degree and graduate programmes.

SUSS Student Life (under Student SUcceSS Centre) aims to create an enabling culture that empowers students to maximise their personal potential. This is realised by supporting students to strengthen their well-being, and helping students develop their unique potential to contribute actively to SUSS and the wider community. SUSS Student Life also organises and implements student leadership, onboarding, inclusion and well-being programmes for the personal and professional development of students.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the team to organise, implement and support various systems, processes and programmes helmed by the SUSS Student Life and Student SUcceSS Centre. In particular, the candidate will support SUSS Competition Groups.

We are looking for individuals who possess good student development skills and knowledge; have strong ability to lead the development and implementation of student life programmes; and are committed to the preparation and development of students.

Candidates should be agile; have an eye for detail as well as collaborative possibilities; and the ability to tackle challenging situations with competence and determination. A strong passion for people development is also expected.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Oversee Competition Groups (CGs) performance management, including mid-year and end-of-year reviews, evaluate impact and prepare consolidated reports to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Support the review and enhancement of Competition Groups (CG) frameworks, including guidelines, policies, and processes; identify gaps, recommend improvements, and support implementation to strengthen governance and effectiveness.
  • Plan and deliver key CG initiatives, including the annual Inter-School Games (ISG) and hosting of Inter-Tertiary sports competitions, with end-to-end ownership of stakeholder management, budgeting, event execution, and post-event reporting.
  • Provide oversight, mentorship, and guidance to student leaders of the SUSS Competition Groups in the development and implementation of Sports for Good initiatives.
  • Manage administrative duties for sports competition groups programmes, including pre-competition preparation, sourcing for training venues, financial management, logistics, etc.
  • Manage and respond to CG enquiries, ensuring timely and effective resolution of all related matters
  • Support ground operations and safety management for local and overseas competitions.
  • Build and maintain relationship with sports-related stakeholders, including local IHL sports council (Singapore University Sports Council (SUSC) and Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP)), National Sports Agencies, sports coaches, physiotherapists, etc.
  • Collaborate with SUSS departments and external stakeholders to coordinate programmes and initiatives.
  • Travel overseas as required to support sports competition, meetings with foreign sports agencies, etc.
  • Work across various offices within Student SUcceSS Centre and support the different functions and events as necessary.
  • Attend training and development courses relevant to work and professional development.
  • Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor, as well as participate in university-wide activities. 

Job Requirements

  • Degree holder with at least 2 years of relevant working experience. Experience in youth development and/or sports management will be an added advantage.
  • Team player, with strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Able to work independently with a strong eye for detail.
  • Strong coordination, administrative and organisational skills.
  • Experience in managing events, conducting workshops/talks, managing student groups
  • Intellectually inquisitive; with a good awareness of current and global affairs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
