The Office of Associates Management (OAM) manages the appointments and onboarding of SUSS associate faculty. We also handle associated operational matters as well as facilitate engagement events.
Job Description
As a Senior Manager with OAM, you will lead a team dedicated to providing proficient and professional management of operational matters and with particular attention to the aspects of engagement, relations, and people strategy. Reports to the Director of OAM.
Responsibilities:
- Build relationships as a trusted advisor with senior stakeholders and managers of College, Schools, and Centers for matters relating to management of associate faculty, including display of strong professional credibility.
- Advise and influence stakeholders in delivering associate management strategies toward meeting the strategic objectives of the University.
- Nurture strong work collaborations with College, Schools, and Centers to facilitate sharing of best practices.
- Ensure proper planning and management of business-as-usual operations and activities, and champion initiatives to facilitate positive associate relations and engagement, including preparation and management of associated annual budget.
- Manage some key activities in relation to appointments and onboarding of associate faculty.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, programs, processes, systems and communications relating to management of associate faculty.
- Review policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures regularly to keep abreast with best practices, and to remain efficient and relevant, including the Associate Faculty handbook.
- Work with College, Schools, and Centers in designing and implementing a strong associate engagement plan, and managing dialogue and communication sessions, including Start of Semester event and Faculty Appreciation Event.
- Manage and resolve complex associate relation matters, which include conducting effective and objective investigations.
- Offer advice to associates on matters pertaining to policies and procedures, and manage the activities pertaining to grievances, conduct and discipline.
- Provide team leadership and coaching to team members and create an environment oriented to performance, innovation thinking, open communication, and trust.
- Participate in University-wide activities as assigned in action plans and/or duty rosters (E.g. graduation, invigilation, etc.).
- Provide support to Registrar and Director to perform any other duties as assigned by them.
Job Requirements
- Degree with at least 8 years of relevant work experience, of which 3-5 years at managerial level.
- Demonstrated leadership in people engagement and management.
- Demonstrated track record in implementing organization development and engagement initiatives.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively within the team.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion, while building trust and upholding confidentiality.
- Strong analytical thinking and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Outstanding attention to detail, follow-up and organisational skills.
- Supervisory experience in managing small teams and experience in organizing events would be advantageous.
