Teaching & Learning Centre
Job Description

The Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) enables quality in teaching and learning through research, support and implementation of educational initiatives and innovative pedagogies. It conducts research in higher ed and adult learning, and supports the learning needs of SUSS's students in areas of academic competency, English proficiency and academic writing. The Centre also provides professional development to faculty towards excellence in teaching. To foster a vibrant teaching & learning community, regular professional sharing, social and appreciation events are also organised.


As part of the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) team, the successful candidate is expected to support the Centre’s activities including the following:


  • Conduct and oversee research activities related to higher education and/or workplace, including literature review, protocol design, data collection, data management, data analyses, and report writing
  • Engage in building staff’s capacity in educational research
  • Coordinate with relevant departments in SUSS for area-specific research
  • Liaison for research grants and funding bodies, including timely submissions and reporting of progress, budgetary and claims matters, including managing post-grant submissions and queries
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Support the implementation of and compliance to research grant processes, including performing administrative, budgetary and compliance checks
  • Maintain an overview of research projects undertaken by the Centre, including project deadlines
  • Monitor allocated budget and funds for research projects undertaken by the Centre
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • Master in disciplines related to teaching and learning
  • At least 5 years relevant research and/or working experience, preferably for institutes of higher learning, or similar teaching and learning environment
  • Strong quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills and associated software, e.g. SPSS, NVivo or other analysis softwares
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and willingness to learn new IT applications when required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, and work within tight timelines
  • A good team player, able to work independently and take initiative
  • Meticulous, organized and resourceful
