Are you passionate about leveraging technology to build resilient and efficient IT infrastructure in higher education? We are seeking a Senior Project Manager (Infrastructure) to lead critical infrastructure projects, work with diverse stakeholders, and ensure successful delivery of outcomes. Your expertise in managing complex infrastructure systems, mitigating risks, and enhancing reliability will drive operational excellence. Proactive problem-solving and strategic planning are essential to improve system performance and user satisfaction.
What You Will be Doing
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Lead and manage infrastructure projects, such as network upgrades, data center operations, cloud migrations, and cybersecurity enhancements.
- Work with project team members to conduct requirement analysis, oversee solution design, perform testing, and manage deployment activities.
- Ensure project artifacts and deliverables meet quality standards and adhere to SUSS guidelines and policies.
- Manage procurement processes such as preparing tender specifications, evaluating and recommending vendors, and contract management.
- Liaise with vendors and partners to ensure timely delivery of infrastructure solutions and services within contractual obligations.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure alignment of infrastructure projects with organisational needs.
- Manage project teams effectively to optimise resources while maintaining high morale and performance.
Infrastructure Operations
- Oversee the ongoing maintenance and support of IT infrastructure to meet SLA commitments.
- Manage infrastructure enhancements, incident resolution, service requests, and troubleshooting of complex issues.
- Perform systems analysis, including identifying and resolving infrastructure-related challenges.
- Ensure audit and security compliance, addressing audit queries and implementing necessary controls.
- Collaborate with stakeholders for annual IT infrastructure planning and prioritisation of improvements.
- Review, streamline and enhance internal processes to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
Management Support/Backup
- Supervises, coaches and develops skills of junior Project Managers in the team.
- Covers the responsibilities of the Head (Infrastructure) when required.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 10 years within the IT industry, inclusive of 5+ years in a technical infrastructure role (e.g., Systems Administration, Network Engineering), and 3+ years’ experience in project management.
- Experience in managing infrastructure projects with a budget of over $200K.
- Good understanding of IT infrastructure technologies and operations, including servers, networks, storage, virtualisation, cloud computing, and security.
- Experience with infrastructure lifecycle management, including planning, procurement, implementation, and decommissioning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and with a service excellence mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to assimilate information quickly, interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management, users, and vendors.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Must be a good team player, proactive in nature, a fast learner, highly organised and positive attitude.
- Certification in PMP, ITIL, or relevant infrastructure certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, CCNP) is a plus.
- Experience in the Higher Education industry is a bonus.
