An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior/Research Associate (Data Science) to develop and implement data science solutionsfor adaptive learning systems and web applications to join the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC).
TLC promotes excellence in teaching and learning through the design and implementation of innovative pedagogies; facilitation ofFaculty development and training; scholarship of teaching & learning; and provides academic support for students whilst developinglifelong learning attributes in our graduates.

Job Description

As Senior/Research Associate, you will be proactive and crucial to the successful development and implementation of adaptivelearning systems and web applications to augment the quality of teaching and learning within the university. You will be responsiblefor data, modelling and research tasks related to educational data mining. These include data extraction and wrangling, and buildingmodels (e.g., machine learning) suitable for the system. With guidance and assistance from colleagues, you will also contribute toreports and publications to communicate success/progress of development works.

Job Requirements

• Qualifications relevant to data science and experience in data analytics.
• A proven ability to propose, build and evaluate machine learning algorithms (e.g., recommendation systems).
• Demonstrable competency in Python programming.
• Experience with and/or commitment to undertake the deployment of machine learning models using ML frameworks such asPytorch or Tensorflow 2.
• Ability to interpret data and provide insights on the performance of the system and our programmes is desirable.
• Experience with the development of web applications and API is desirable.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, as well as an analytical mind.
• A collaborative and collegial approach to work.
• Experience and/or commitment to contribute to the deployment of applications (and databases) on AWS or Azure.
• Research experience in learning analytics
