About The Job
The Student SUcceSS Centre (SSC) invites dynamic and collaborative individuals to join our Career Development Office in nurturing students to become professionally competent, future-ready graduates who are able to make purposeful and responsible career decisions.
In this pivotal role, you will mentor and coach students to develop professional competencies, make informed and ethical career decisions, and transition successfully into the workforce as capable and contributing professionals. You will support students through their Professional Readiness Experience (PRE), including Work Attachment (WA) and Work-Study Degree (WSDeg) pathways, through structured career coaching, mentorship, and workplace learning.
You will also work closely with academic and industry partners to strengthen academic-industry alignment and create meaningful career and learning opportunities for students. Where relevant, you may contribute to applied initiatives that enhance career development practices, including emerging areas such as career health and workforce readiness.
What You Will Be Doing
The Specialist will be responsible for the following key areas:
- Provide career coaching and advisory to students across their academic journey, with a focus on supporting their Professional Readiness Experience (PRE), including Work Attachment (WA) and Work-Study Degree (WSDeg) pathways
- Coach and assess students during workplace learning experiences (local and overseas), supporting their development of professional competencies, self-awareness, and career clarity
- Design and deliver career development workshops, programmes, and group-based learning sessions (e.g., debriefs, reflective learning) to enhance students’ employability and LifeSkills outcomes
- Contribute to the design and delivery of career-related, credit-bearing courses, where applicable, to strengthen the integration of academic learning and workplace practice
- Support industry engagement efforts by collaborating with internal teams and partners to facilitate student access to internship, WSDeg, and employment opportunities
- Collaborate with academic schools and industry partners to ensure alignment between curriculum, workplace learning, and industry expectations
- Support the development and implementation of frameworks, tools, and approaches for student readiness, diagnostics, and assessment within PRE
- Contribute to applied research or projects that enhance career development practices, including areas such as employability, workforce readiness, and career health (where relevant)
- Assist in selected career-related events and initiatives (e.g., networking sessions, employer engagement activities) to enhance students’ exposure to industry
- Undertake administrative and operational duties to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of career development programmes and initiatives
Job Requirements
We are looking for experienced professionals with strong industry background, coaching capabilities, and a passion for developing students.
Candidates should have:
- A good university degree, preferably with postgraduate qualifications and/or professional certifications
- At least 8–10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with exposure to talent development, coaching, or leadership roles
- Strong interest and/or experience in career coaching, mentoring, or people development
- Good understanding of hiring trends, workplace expectations, and skills development
Preferred / Advantageous:
- Industry experience in Accountancy, Finance, or Supply Chain Management
- Experience working with or developing early-career talent
- Interest in career development research, career health, or workforce analytics
- Certification in career coaching, personality profiling tools, or related areas
Personal Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Passion for working with students and ability to inspire and guide them
- Adaptable, collaborative, and able to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across coaching, programmes, and partnerships
- Willingness to travel overseas when required
