About The Job
The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), an autonomous institute of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), is at the forefront of building capabilities and offering continuing professional development for an effective, innovative and responsive Training and Adult Education (TAE) sector.
The Curriculum Specialist reports to the team lead of Curriculum Development. The appointee will take a lead role in the end-to-end design, development and maintenance of IAL's signature programmes, driving curriculum innovation and ensuring alignment with the IAL's strategic academic direction. The role requires a practitioner-scholar who combines deep expertise in curriculum and instructional design with the ability to integrate cutting-edge technology into hybrid learning environments.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the design, development, review and continuous improvement of signature programmes, ensuring academic rigour, pedagogical soundness and relevance to learners and industry.
- Champion curriculum innovation by researching, evaluating and embedding emerging pedagogical frameworks, learning technologies and best practices into programme development processes.
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous professional development within the team.
- Drive the integration of technology-enhanced learning solutions, including AI-assisted tools, digital platforms and hybrid delivery models, to enrich the teaching and learning experience.
- Collaborate with academic schools, faculty, industry partners and external stakeholders to co-develop and validate curriculum content that is future-ready and aligned with workforce and societal needs.
- Lead and facilitate leadership development and training programmes for educators and curriculum practitioners, building internal capability across the University.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance frameworks and review cycles for curriculum documentation, programme structures and learning outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of the team's annual workplans, strategic initiatives and key performance indicators in support of the University's academic and institutional goals.
- Any other duties as assigned, including cross-functional and university-wide projects.
Job Requirements
- A Master's degree or above in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Education, or a closely related discipline is required.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in curriculum and instructional design and development, with a demonstrated portfolio of signature or flagship programme work in a higher education or continuing education context.
- Proven leadership experience, including the ability to lead teams, manage complex projects and influence stakeholders at multiple levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and facilitating effective and impactful professional learning programmes for educators, practitioners or adult learners.
- Strong command of instructional design methodologies (e.g. backward design, competency-based curriculum, UDL) and the ability to apply these across diverse programme types and learner profiles.
- Technology-savvy with a strong track record of integrating cutting-edge educational technologies, including AI-powered learning tools, learning management systems and digital assessment platforms, into curriculum and programme design.
- Experienced in designing and optimising learning experiences for hybrid and blended delivery settings, with the ability to translate complex content into engaging, accessible and high-impact learning journeys.
- Strong analytical and systems thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate curriculum effectiveness and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence across academic, administrative and industry contexts.
- Resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
- A collaborative team player with strong initiative and a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute next to Paya Lebar MRT station.
