The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), an autonomous institute of the Singapore University of Social Sciences, is at the forefront of building capabilities and continuing professional development for an effective, innovative and responsive adult learning ecosystem in support of the objectives of SkillsFuture.

IAL is leading the Adult Learning Collaboratory (ALC), the first such collaboratory in the world for adult learning. The ALC brings stakeholders in the adult learning ecosystem together to jointly innovate and co-produce solutions in an experimental environment. Stakeholders include, but are not limited to adult learning institutions, adult educators, enterprises, technologists, researchers and policymakers.

What You Will Be Doing

The role of the ALC Lead Catalyst is to drive experimentation-focused activities in close collaboration with various stakeholders in the ecosystem. The appointee will lead in the design, implementation, and evaluation of experiments and change activities. The appointee will work in close collaboration with a network of change catalysts, researchers and industry specialists.

In this position, the appointee will report to Head (ALC). The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Change Planning and Execution: Lead the design and implementation of experiments that support strategic change initiatives. Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, analyse organisational contexts, and co-create effective change strategies including co-designing experiments to trial new approaches. Conduct detailed analysis of data from change activities and experiments, delivering actionable insights and recommendations for further action.
  • Project Coordination: Oversee the documentation, coordination, and scheduling of project activities to ensure efficiency and alignment with project scope and objectives. Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and address any issues or deviations to enable project success.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Champion effective communication and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. Ensure all parties are aligned, informed, and engaged throughout the process, addressing concerns and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Collaboratory Maintenance: Oversee and maintain the infrastructure and assets necessary for collaborative work, ensuring smooth operations, accessibility and usability of collaboratory resources for all team members.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake various tasks and responsibilities, both within and outside your division, as assigned by management to support organisational needs and adapt to changing environments.

Job Requirements

  • A degree in the social sciences or any other relevant field(s)
  • At least 3 years of work experience, preferably with experience in organisational, policy and/or other change projects
  • A commitment to building a high-trust, high-efficacy ecosystem of co-innovation and experimentation
  • Critical thinking and influencing skills, with boundary crossing networking capabilities
  • Sound analytical skills to support research-grounded and data-driven experimentation and innovation
  • Strong writing, communication, administrative and project management skills

Additional Information:

  • The successful appointee will be based at the IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar.
