In 2023, SUSS has launched a new suite of core courses to equip students with a set of values, skills and knowledge to develop them into adaptive and resilient global citizens who are able to meet the challenges of the 21st century. These courses aim to enable students to appreciate complex issues in local and global contexts, enhance their understanding of individuals, communities and relationships, and empower them to contribute meaningfully to society through interdisciplinary approaches and experiential learning. 

We are interested in individuals with extensive industry experience who are keen to translate those experiences to teaching. The Specialist/Senior Specialist role reports to the Deputy Dean (Experiential Learning) and is responsible for teaching, course development, and contributing to academic administration to achieve the learning goals of the SUSS Core curriculum.

Preference will be given to applicants who are able to teach using the experiential education or the service-learning approaches.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design and teach interdisciplinary and experiential courses.
• Contribute to the development, revision, and assessment of interdisciplinary curriculum.
• Facilitate and mentor student learning across diverse academic backgrounds and levels.
• Manage academic administrative, and coordination duties in fulfilment of the scope of work.
• Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, and participate in university-wide activities.
• Attend training and development courses relevant to work and/or personal development.
• Conduct action research to improve one’s practice.

Job Requirements

• A Master’s degree and/or professional qualification is required.
• Extensive experience working in the industry at mid or senior levels.
• Candidates with industry experience in science and technology, social services; or interdisciplinary areas such as climate, environment, or public health will be at an advantage.
• Some teaching experience with the ability to integrate technology and AI, where relevant.  
• Strong analytical, communication, networking and presentation skills.
• A resourceful team player with initiative and interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity.
• Resilient, meticulous, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and managing multiple tasks.
