About The Job
This position supports the strategic direction and business needs of the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), under the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), by ensuring the delivery, enhancement, and maintenance of robust IT infrastructure and end-user computing services. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and the SUSS Campus IT Services team to maintain reliable and secure IT systems aligned with IAL’s technology roadmap.
The job focuses on providing day-to-day IT operations support, manage end-user computing (EUC) needs, and maintain the IT infrastructure within IAL in alignment with the organization’s objectives and technology roadmap.
What You Will Be Doing
Key Responsibilities
- IT Infrastructure Maintenance & Support: Implement, maintain, and support the core IT infrastructure within IAL. This includes managing network systems, hardware, software, and security tools to ensure consistent system availability, optimal performance, and alignment with organisational needs.
- Network & Security Management: Responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of network infrastructure components such as DNS, routers, switches, firewalls (on-premises and cloud-based), VPNs, wireless controllers, and security appliances to ensure that network connectivity and security protocols are robust and effectively maintained.
- Server & Storage Management: Administration of physical and virtual servers across Windows and Linux environments, managing SSL certificates, executing backups for both on-premises and cloud systems, maintaining network-attached storage to safeguard data integrity and support business continuity.
- Access Management: Administer user access rights for various IT systems, ensuring that permissions are granted following established IT security protocols and standard operating procedures. This function is critical to safeguarding system integrity and protecting sensitive data from unauthorised access.
- End-User Computing Support: Deliver first-line technical assistance to staff, Adult Educators (AEs), and learners. Support is provided through multiple channels—phone, email, and in-person—to ensure prompt and effective resolution of IT-related issues and maintain a seamless user experience. May include coordinating with outsourced end-user computing personnel.
- Responsible for managing the IT budget to ensure cost-effective and strategic allocation of resources. This includes conducting regular IT assessments to evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement, overseeing procurement processes in line with organizational policies, and maintaining accurate IT documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The role also supports internal and external audit activities by ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards.
- Any other duties, including cross divisional project(s) that may be assigned from time to time by the management or your Reporting Officer for staff capability development as well as to meet the organisational needs.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a similar scope, with the ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Diploma or Degree in Information Communication Technology (ICT) or a related discipline.
- Technical Expertise: Experience in managing network and security infrastructure, including DNS, domain management, routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, VPNs, and both physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux). Skilled in handling SSL certificates and backup systems.
- Operational & Support Skills: Experienced in administering user access rights and delivering end-user computing support, especially in coordination with outsourced support teams.
- End-User Computing & Cloud Services: Proficient in supporting a wide range of hardware and software environments, with hands-on experience in cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure.
- Governance & Compliance: Well-versed in IT security incident management, Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) compliance and IT governance and risk management practices. Capable of managing IT budgets, conducting assessments, overseeing procurement, maintaining documentation and SOPs, and supporting audit and compliance activities.
- Collaboration & Adaptability: Strong interpersonal skills to work with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and cross-functional teams. Willing to support cross-divisional projects and organisational development initiatives.
- The successful appointee will be based in the Institute for Adult Learning, located at Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar.
