Systems Engineer

Job Description

•             Manage and monitor all installed IT systems and infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of availability
•             Install, configure, maintain and update operating systems, application software and system management tools
•             Monitor and measure the performance and availability of systems proactively and implement corrective actions identified to improve performance and availability
•             Manage system changes through the change request process and provides status reports to the relevant parties
•             Respond promptly to incident, investigate and provide temporary or permanent resolution of incidents escalated 
•             Responsible for providing operational support for systems (virtual/physical servers) which includes but is not limited to the following Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services including ADFS, DNS, DHCP, GPO.
•             Account management and access rights control
•             Provide server backup operational support (perform regular backup and backup verification activities)
•             Responsible for patch management (rollout of server patches), systems security hardening and antivirus deployment (rollout, support and monitoring)
•             Develop and update technical documentation and SOP procedures and generate regular reports for IT resources usage
•             Liaise with support vendors for maintenance, support and resolution of issues
•             Participate in any ad-hoc IT project/enhancements
•             Provide IT support to end-users.
•             Assist the Manager/Director in all other assigned duties
•             Assist in the general administrative function of the department
•             Participate in university-wide events

Job Requirements

•             Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or relevant field
•             At least 3 years experience in system-related administration, planning, implementation or operation
•             Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting enterprise Windows server stack-based environments
•             Experience with system security hardening, backup, and redundancy strategies
•             Knowledge in networking and security (e.g. OSI network layers, TCP/IP, VLAN, Firewall, IDS) and cloud applications (e.g. Office 365, Azure)
•             Able to take challenges, work independently or as a team, and be self-driven to learn new technologies
•             Demonstrates flexibility in responding to unexpected demands
