About The Job

Singapore University of Social Sciences is one of Singapore's six autonomous universities and its mission is to provide lifelong education that equips learners to serve society. Home to more than 15,000 students, SUSS provides an applied education that targets both fresh school leavers and adult learners, with a focus on the social sciences. It adopts a flexible and practice-focused learning approach and offers more than 70 degree programmes in various disciplines. Applications are invited for an open-rank faculty position in the area of Social Work at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.

 

The successful candidate will join the School of Social Work and Social Development and will be expected to contribute to a range of academic responsibilities,  which include but not limited to curriculum enhancement, academic mentorhip and faculty development and conduct research in social work and closely related fields.

What You Will Be Doing

The successful candidate will join the School of Social Work and Social Development and will be expected to contribute to a range of academic responsibilities, which include but not limited to:

 

  1. Curriculum enhancement
    • Ensuring rigour and alignment with current international standards and practice

 

    2. Research and grantsmanship

    • Contribute to the School’s practice research performance indicators
    • Conduct research clinics for students and faculties who are keen on mental health and related research

   

    3. Academic mentorship and faculty development

    • Provide mentorship to faculty members and conduct workshops/ seminars to strengthen research capability

   

    4. Internationalisation and collaboration

    • Strengthen partnerships with overseas institutions and facilitate joint research projects and publications

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree holder in a relevant discipline from a reputable university. 
  • Experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Demonstrate a strong research pipeline targeting recognizable and reputable academic journals. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, keep abreast of developments in their fields, think strategically, and be a role model to students

 

The following qualities are desirable:

  • At least 10 years of work experience (including consultancy, training and teaching) in private or public sector human resource management or related fields
  • Experiences in course design, collaborating with industry partners for teaching purpose, and adopting new technology in teaching
  • Established extensive record in peer-reviewed journals and books
