Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Web Application Developer to join the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC). This position will initially be offered on a limited-term contract.

TLC promotes excellence in teaching and learning through the design and implementation of innovative pedagogies; facilitation of Faculty development and training; scholarship of teaching & learning; and provides academic support for students whilst developing lifelong learning attributes in our graduates.

As a Web Application Developer, you will develop and implement data science solutions for adaptive learning systems. You will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of a web application that facilitates the delivery of adaptive learning systems. To achieve this, you will write well-designed and efficient codes in accordance with best software development practices, maintain good software documentation, and ensure that the site remains scalable. You will also work closely with colleagues to deploy relevant content.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Demonstrable working experience of 3 years or more in web application programming and development including version control, code libraries, source control systems, documentation, code reviews and software release management.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB), RESTful API, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS.
  • Experience with server-side programming (e.g. Python, Java, etc.), web services, software integration with external systems and cloud-based services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience with deploying machine learning models in a production environment is a plus.
  • Experience with developing Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) applications is a plus
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, as well as an analytical mind.
